About Me

¡Hola y Bienvenido!

My name is Vicki Thompson, and I have been teaching Spanish for twelve years.  I have taught Spanish to children from Kindergarten through High School and have tutored college students as well.  I have a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Spanish and a Master's Degree in Counseling Psychology.  I spent the last year of my undergraduate studies at The Universidad de Sevilla, in Seville, Spain. This year solidified my love of the Spanish language.

In 2010 I left my counseling practice to return home to homeschool my three children, who at the time were 11, 9, and 7.  At that time, I was asked at our Local homeschool group if I would teach Spanish, and I have been teaching ever since.  I am excited to help students learn to express themselves in a brand new language.  Being bilingual has been shown to improve problems solving and decision-making.  It can give children an academic advantage and increases their cultural awareness.  Being bilingual makes us better global citizens.

I currently live in Plainfield, Illinois with my husband, our three children and two cats.

Incredible Teacher

Vicki has been an incredible Spanish teacher over the last three years.  She uses a mix of traditional texts, online activities, engaging novels, and relevant projects.  She has the ability to work with students in person and virtually.  She loves language and has been great at sharing that love with my daughter.  The gift of a second language is priceless and Vicki has been instrumental in that for our family.
